CARVINGS WITH FOUND OBJECTS, EARLY PERIOD
These are the animal carvings from 1979 and 1980. This group includes The Mule, Wild Pig, Dragon, Laughing Dinosaur and Anteater, all 1979. For 1980, Mama Pig with Babies, Grasshopper, Bear and Elephant Seal. Each piece started with the "found object", usually a strange shaped piece of cast iron that suggested the sculpture. The rest of the image would then be carved from wood, with additional elements fabricated from other materials, when necessary.
